Ingredients
12 cabbage leaves
1 pound ground beef
1 cup cooked rice
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup minced onion
1 clove garlic, minced
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Boil cabbage leaves about 2 minutes or until soft. Set aside to cool.
In a medium bowl, combine ground beef, rice, egg, milk, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, thyme, and basil.
Place about 1/4 cup of meat mixture in center of each cabbage leaf, and roll up, tucking in ends. Place rolls in a baking dish.
In a small bowl, mix together tomato sauce, brown sugar, and lemon juice. Pour over cabbage rolls.
Cover and bake for about 40 minutes.
