- 1 whole turkey (12 to 14 pounds)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh sage, chopped
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 onion, quartered
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1 lemon, halved
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
- In a small bowl, mix together the butter, rosemary, thyme, sage, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Gently loosen the turkey’s skin and rub the herb butter mixture under and over the skin.
- Inside the turkey cavity, place the onion, garlic, and lemon halves.
- Place the turkey on a roasting rack in a roasting pan.
- Roast for about 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Rest the turkey for about 20 minutes before carving.
